The SwimRight Method

Safety first. Structure always. One standard, every time.

A complete, structured learn-to-swim system built around one defining standard.

The SwimRight Method, developed by four-time Olympic Gold Medalist Lenny Krayzelburg, is a complete, structured curriculum built around one principle: survival skills come before strokes. It has been applied and refined over more than 20 years across diverse programs, age groups, and facilities.

It is not a teaching philosophy. It is a system — with defined levels, objective benchmarks, standardized instructor training, and technology that tracks every student’s progress in real time.

This is how learn-to-swim should be taught.

Why safety comes first

SwimRight is built on a principle that shapes every level, every lesson, and every advancement decision: survival skills come before strokes.

Before any stroke is introduced, every student masters the foundational skills that matter most in an emergency. Independent back float. Breath control. The ability to respond calmly in the water. These are not preliminary steps. They are the foundation everything else is built on.

That foundation is also what makes every stroke that follows more effective, more durable, and genuinely safe.

The question is not whether your child can swim across the pool. It is whether they can keep themselves safe until help arrives.

Water safety and survival

Four elements. One standard.

Safety first

Survival skills mastered before any stroke is introduced. No exceptions.

Structured progression

Defined skills and benchmarks at every level. Students advance when ready.

Objective benchmarks

Mandatory assessments confirm critical skills are genuinely mastered.

Instructor standardization

A shared framework ensures outcomes never depend on who is teaching.

The curriculum is the competitive advantage

The SwimRight Method curriculum defines what is taught, in what sequence, and to what standard. It is the foundation of every outcome this method produces. Three elements exist to make sure it is always delivered the way it was designed.

SwimRight Method Curriculum

The competitive advantage
The curriculum is the single source of truth for everything that happens inside a SwimRight program. Every program, every level, and every instructor follows the same source. That is what makes the outcome reliable.

Training Hub

Ensures consistent delivery

Every instructor is trained to deliver the curriculum the same way, every time. The standard lives in the system, not the person.

Swimstr App

Tracks every student’s progress

Records each student’s achievements, skill completions, and level advancements in real time. Full visibility for instructors, parents, and program directors at every step.

Survival Assessments

Confirms benchmarks are met

Confirms that the curriculum’s safety standards are genuinely met before any student advances.

The curriculum sets the standard. These three elements are how it gets delivered the right way, every time.

Building swimmers who are safe first, skilled second

Drowning is one of the leading causes of accidental death among children. The gap between children who take swim lessons and children who are genuinely water-safe is real. It is largely a product of how instruction is designed.
SwimRight closes that gap by building swimmers who are safe first and skilled second.

The SwimRight Method measures success by the swimmers produced, not the lessons taught.

Reviews from our partners

SwimRight is a great value to our JCC and community as it utilizes the most modern approaches to teaching swimming. Broken into steps, the curriculum utilizes highly effective drowning prevention strategies coupled with efficient stroke development techniques. Each stage solidifies a swimmer’s confidence in the water by keeping them engaged in their overall progress through an awards system.
